Julie and Ewan McConnell jointly acquired Magor in 2007. Ewan is a Shell trained business graduate, who spent his early career in commercial and marketing roles with the Calor Gas Group, Yorkshire Electricity and the Hyder Group in the UK and abroad.
He spent 6 years as General Manager building British Energy Direct – a division of British Energy Plc which supplied electricity and associated services to over 20% of the largest industrial and commercial customers energy users in the UK.
Ewan has over 30 years experience in developing successful customer focused businesses in competitive market places.
Sean O-BrienManaging Director
Sean O’Brien joined the Magor team as Operations Director in January 2017. Sean brings 30 years’ experience in Toolmaking, Design & Manufacture and Engineering in the New Product Development and Continuous Improvement fields of the Bio Medical sector.
As a time served toolmaker, Sean spent over 25 years with Biomet in the UK and Europe, developing his career from the toolroom, through a series of manufacturing and engineering leadership roles before assuming multi-site responsibilities for new product development and continuous improvement. Sean completed his career with Biomet as UK Plant Director for 4 years.
Sean spent 2 years with Ecolab in Baglan as Plant Manager and most recently he has been running Spectrum Brands site in Rassau who, along with other lines bottle the STP and Amor All automotive products.
Gordon SempleBusiness Development Director
An Electrical Engineer by training, Gordon has over 35 years experience in manufacturing, automation and controls developed within a number of well known and respected industry leaders including over 10 years as Managing Director of FANUC UK.
Gordon joined Magor in 2014 and leads in the development of new customer relations and ensuring we understand and support the needs of our existing clients.
Emma PowellFinance Director
Emma was appointed Finance Director in September 2014. She holds a degree in Accounting & Finance and is a qualified ACCA. She developed her career in the banking, manufacturing and leisure sectors before joining Magor in 2012.
Emma’s responsibilities include Finance, HR & IT to ensure we have an effective “back office” to support our customers, supply chain and internal teams.
Mark DaviesCommercial Director
Mark joined the company over 37 years ago on a government scheme before becoming an apprentice. A time served toolmaker, Mark developed his career through a wide range of engineering and commercial positions before becoming General Manager under the previous ownership. He is widely known and respected in the sector and has a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise to draw upon for our customers.
